Errol
Walsh with Slim Pickens & Dr. Baz.
|
Synchronicity : During
his European tour in 2004, Irish country blues artist Errol Walsh crossed paths with two kindred musical spirits, that unusual Blues duo on tour from Australia, who bill themselves as ’Slim Pickens & Dr.
Baz’. The latter singer/multi-instrumentalists came from thousands of miles away, but their musical feel proved very compatible with Errol's warm acoustic style when they gave an impromptu performance before an enthusiastic festival audience at the Sjyrock Music Festival in northern Norway.
It was real
surprise was just how this rich-sounding
impromptu country blues trio just 'fell together' into a coherent and natural sound.

In 2005 the Slim & the Doctor undertook a short tour of Northern Ireland playing at some of the classic Belfast pubs and at Port Stewart. Errol joined them on bass guitar and vocals as well as opening with a solo set .
In 2006 Errol travelled to Australia to renew their collaboration, with a bunch of gigs in Byron Bay, Brisbane, The Gold Coast and at Australia's premier country music event the Tamworth Country Music Festival. |

The trio produce a rich blend of musical styles and inflences from old
time Country Folk and Delta Blues, to old Cowboy tunes and Cajun swing rhythms. The resulting shows have offerred a blend of pre-war classics from the likes of Leadbelly, Charlie
Patton, Robert Johnson as well as original contemporary compositions
penned by each artist.
